Zdeněk Simota

Zdeněk 'Sam' Simota (born 4 May 1985, Prachatice, Czech Republic)[1] currently rides in the Czech ExtraLeague with AK Plzeň, Polish Second Division League with Orzeł Łódź and the Danish Team Brovst.

Career

Sam began riding at the age of nine . The highlights of his career so far was becoming the Czech Under-21 Champion in 2004 and reaching the Semi-Final of the European Championships. He has been a meeting reserve in the Czech 2006 Speedway Grand Prix.

2005 saw the introduction of Sam into the British Premier League for the Reading Racers as an injury replacement for Danny Bird. In 2007 he rode for the Racers in the Elite League.

However, during a race meet in Hungary, May 2008, Sam suffered serious injuries and has spent most of the 2008 season recovering from the injuries. We are happy to announce that in 2009 Sam is now back in training and will be riding again for the Czech team AK Plzeň and the Polish Orzel Lodz. Also in 2009 season, Sam has joined the Danish team Brovst. Sam continues to focus on building his career in becoming one of the best speedway riders representing his country and as an individual rider at world championship level.
